Last Saturday, we got to experience a world class project by renowned NYC landscape architecture firm James Corner Field Operations right here in Memphis. Woodland Discovery Playground in Shelby Farms Park is phase one of their masterplan for the entire park. It's also one of the select projects in the Sustainable Sites Initiative pilot program. One of two in Memphis. (The other project in Memphis being Habitat for Hope's Barnraising project.) It's also one of only four in the State of Tennessee. Some of our favorite features of the playground are the winding arbor tunnel anticipated to be covered in plant material, well-designed benches and chairs made from recycled material, informational signage, sand pit with water pump, slides of various kinds, and the climbing net that led you up to a tree fort. I'll just end by saying, "I'm proud of you, Memphis."

We took the kids there Sunday and had a blast. Half of Memphis was there! I didn't bring my camera, since I was worn out from shooting all day Saturday-- glad you took some cool pics!
ReplyDeleteSophorn, your pics are amazing! Can't wait to play there when we get home!
