PLAY Chicago Favorites

Chicago is a great family town. What would you expect from a city that planned for plenty of parks and greenspaces. Atticus made it his playground. Below are the places we enjoyed that allowed for kids of all ages to "release their wiggles."

Navy Pier / “Chicago’s Lakefront Playground” / At the end of East Grand Ave.
We spent a long evening at Navy Pier for the rides, fireworks, food, and views. It was definitely an attraction for tourists but we were glad to be one of them.

Funhouse mirrors along the pier.

Wave Swinger, Ferris Wheel, Musical Carousel.

Fireworks end the night. Every Friday and Saturday and some weeknights they offer a free fireworks display. We found out that this was a very clever marketing tool because it kept everyone at Navy Pier till closing which meant shopping and a late night snack to pass the time until then.

Millennium Park / Millennium Park Monument and Fountain / N Michigan & E Randolph
We enjoyed Millennium Park on the one and only day the weather was perfect during our stay. On our way to the Crown Fountain, Atticus stopped at this fountain on the park corner eager to play in the water.

Atticus runs over to the opposite side to make a friend and observe.

Then mimics to catch her attention.

The friendship is official.

Crown Fountain ~ The glass block shell encasing the changing digital screens bookend a shallow reflecting pool. Atticus ran laps back and forth from one face to the other for at least an hour.

Shedd Aquarium / 1200 S Lake Shore Dr.
As Atticus' first visit to any aquarium, this was a good start.

Wrigley Field / Stadium Tour / 1060 W Addison St
Christopher and Atticus spent the day at Wrigley Field and Lincoln Park Zoo while I attended Neocon. They took photos with the Lomo Supersampler camera {4 photos in sequence on one film frame}.

Lincoln Park Zoo / Public zoo where admission is always free / 2001 N Clark St
Atticus helped take this photo of the giraffe.

We played hard so it's only fitting that the last of the Chicago Favorites posting is RELAX to be posted soon.
