Tasted ~ Pete and Sam's / To Crave ~ Italian Fest

///

I’m not sure how many times we’ve wanted to try Pete and Sam’s during the 7 years we’ve been in Memphis but remembering when the Memphis establishment was actually open finally synced up last week. The place was crowded with large groups and families, but as it was just my husband Christopher and I, we were seated as soon as we entered. Ordering was hard because we wanted to try too many things, so our strategy was to order our favorite Italian dishes tried at other restaurants for comparison.

Tasted
~Eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti and spinach
~Pete and Sam’s Famous Italian Salad
~Cannoli
~Tiramisu

We were very pleased with the dinner especially the “famous Italian salad” and the spinach that they are also known for. The salad we had a long discussion over since the taste was very close to the signature salad of our all-time favorite Italian restaurant Provino’s in Auburn, Alabama. It was just missing chickpeas and red beets. As far as the desserts go, we enjoyed them, but when it comes to desserts, we are very particular. I think they were on the heavy side, a style I’m sure most like but my favorite tiramisu is “heavy” on the whipped topping.

We’ll be back to try the pizza and signature entrees but as I write this posting I feel a craving for Italian food coming on, which in my case is great, since we’ll be going to the first night of Italian Fest tonight to visit the Lords of Rigatoni booth. {June 3-5 / Marquette Park, corner of Mt.
