Last year I was a bit late in spreading the word about Rock for Love, a benefit concert for the Church Health Center in Memphis, but thanks to Jeff Hulett, Marvin Stockwell, and J.D. Reager, the wonderful guys that lead the effort {and who also happen to be local musicians}, I now know through their gracious interviews for me that this is an important cause to support and that one's support and love is appreciated at every level. With their goal of exceeding the funds raised last year, it's never too early or too often to begin the efforts. Ways you can help are described in their press release below.
The 4th Annual Rock for Love Benefit Concert set for August 19-21 2010 at the Hi-Tone and Shangri-La Records. Featured headliners include Lucero and Amy Lavere. Tickets go on sale June 1 at the Hi-Tone Cafe, Memphis. Other bands set to play the benefit include the Dirty Streets, Star and Micey, Oracle and the Mountain, Bulletproof Vests and Glorie. Organizers are finalizing the lineup and more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
