To Crave ~ Frank's Deli Club Sandwich

Toasted Wheatberry Bread
Homemade Chipotle Mayo
Melted Cheddar Cheese
Fresh Lettuce and Tomato
Smoked Chicken
Smoked Turkey
Smoked Ham
Smoked Hickory Bacon

No other sandwich has probably deserved to be spotlighted as much as this one. I was very aware that many locals have declared it the best sandwich in Memphis and even the best they’ve ever had, but before my first taste, I kept wondering how could it be that one of the most basic lunch foods could cause such an emotional response? It was clear from the first bite that this was no ordinary sandwich. The club sandwich from Frank’s Deli is the kind of sandwich that people not only crave but fall completely in love with. Because of its rare superiority, I couldn’t just post any ordinary snapshot of this beauty. I had to recruit the talented Dirk Olsen, a portrait photographer that is also a true fan of this sandwich.

I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to print it out and pin it next to your desk. Yeah, right there, next to the photo of all the people you love. Perfect.

Morning Tea ~ Maggie's Pharm

Out of the over 30 varieties of herbal tea that Maggie's Pharm carries, I'm currently kickstarting my mornings with raspberry green tea or the chai tea. After being introduced to these flavorful loose leaf herbal teas, I doubt I can ever enjoy a regular teabag-brewed cup again.

Maggie's Pharm, a sort of hidden gem in Memphis, is a great little gift shop carrying tea, coffee, herbs, oils, skincare products, jewelry, and so manymore unique gift items. / I'll probably be talking more about them later.

When you find someone special, hold them tight and never let them go.  It's hard to believe Atticus and Violet have been best friends since they were 3 months old, over 5 years of a loving bond I hope never breaks. Enjoy your 'Valentime' as Atticus would say.

To Crave ~ Fuel Baguette Special and My Attempt to Clone

This is a photo of the baguette created by Fuel food truck I had two weeks ago. My attempt to recreate it last night, because I had been craving it ever since, looked exactly the same but just didn't taste the same. I mean it looked simple enough. I got all the same ingredients, down to the premium Boursin brand cheese that made it so special. Sadly, it fit the true description of a clone - a physical reproduction lacking one vital thing - soul. It couldn't replace the original. I must say, I now have a deeper respect for the culinary talent of the Fuel Cafe team.
