Shop Local + Tasted ~ Au Fond Farmtable

We are very excited to have Au Fond move into our neighborhood {Cooper-Young}. Chef Ben Vaughn opened this sister restaurant next to his other restaurant grace just in time for Cooper-Young Night Out. They cleverly share a kitchen to provide much more seating in this new space. As you walk in though, you'll find a small market selling fine French ingredients such as assorted cheeses, olives, vinegar, and bread. Oh, I wish they were open when I needed them for my Valentine's French menu. Champagne vinegar is not easy to find here in Memphis but here it is.

Below is what we tasted today. We were in the mood for a burger but in a rush, so we took it home as carry-out. I liked the butcher paper and twine wrapping. It was a definite sign of the rustic burger we were about to enjoy. I loved the sweet tomato and red pepper sauce they added as an alternative to ketchup. Tasty!

Check them out tonight during Cooper-Young Night Out or any other time for breakfast or lunch. It'll be a treat.

I think au fond farmtable is a great place, the food is delicious, the servers are attentive and my spouse and I have eaten there weekly since they opened.
We would still be loyal customers if we had not met Ben Vaughn. As I posted on May 15, 2010, I asked a server when my biscuits & gravy would be out and was told I should eat what was served because they were out of biscuits, he went inside and Ben Vaughn came out and asked we if there was a problem. I said no one told me about my order and he came up to me and said..quote.."if you want to get confrontational, I can get confrontational'.
We have been to Grace as well, but luckily never met Ben Vaughn.
Somebody needs to tell Ben Vaughn to 'STAY IN THE KITCHEN'
Sorry, but please let people know Ben Vaughn is tuff to deal with.
